VILLA PIETRA D’ORO / ADAPTIVE REUSE CONCEPT

LALA STUDIO

Architecture · Design · Spatial exploration

We begin with what is there.

The slope of the ground. The way the afternoon sun falls across a wall. The texture of stone worn by weather and touch. Before we draw, we look for what gives a place its character—and what it feels like to be there.

At LALA Studio, these observations shape the work. We care about the weight of a wall, the warmth of a material, and the passage from an exposed landscape into shelter. A building should belong to its surroundings and offer something deeply felt within them: a moment of stillness, a sense of welcome, a reason to stay.

We are drawn to buildings that already hold a life. Adaptive reuse asks us to work closely with their imperfections, their structure, and the traces people have left behind. We want new work to bring those qualities into sharper focus while making room for a different future. Keeping an old wall can change the entire feeling of a room.

Our practice moves between this attention to what is present and the freedom to imagine what could be. Drawings, models, computation, and immersive tools help us test that relationship. The ambition is always physical and human: places rooted in their ground, honest in their materials, and capable of making us feel something.
